Operation Christmas Child – Shoeboxes

Operation Christmas Child – Shoeboxes

This Term, Junior School students (and families) will have the opportunity to participate in the Operation Christmas Child – Shoebox project, which involves filling shoeboxes with gifts to be distributed by Samaritan’s Purse to needy children in Australia and around the world for Christmas. This is an exciting and valuable opportunity for us to put into practice many of the lessons we have been learning on an assembly about gratitude, respect for others and compassion.
How to participate
Step 1. Collect a shoebox (or shoeboxes – there is no limit) and gift labels from M Block. You can use your own shoebox, but please ensure the lid surface is no larger than an A4 piece of paper. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately.
Step 2. Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy and the age category: 2 – 4, 5 – 9 or 10 – 14.
Step 3. Fill with gifts! Suggested items – Soccer ball with pump, small stuffed animal or fun toy, hygiene items and school supplies.
Step 4. Pray! Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note.
Step 5. Return the filled shoebox to Miss Kerridge by Monday, 13 September.
If you have any questions regarding this, please get in touch with Miss Kerridge via email kkerridge@redlands.qld.edu or visit operationchristmaschild.org.au
