Sports Round-Up

FOOTBALL | It has been a big week of football at Redlands College, with teams competing in various competitions. Last week, male and female teams contested the CSSAQ Gala Day event. The boy’s team secured two wins and two draws, with two losses by a single goal. The girl’s team had a successful day consisting of four wins, a single loss and a draw. Congratulations to all who competed. The Open Boys Team also played in a friendly at home against Redeemer Lutheran College on Monday, 28 August. This was a significant step in building relationships with other schools to secure more regular matches for our College football teams.

REGIONAL FINALS | After winning district-level finals our Open Boys Volleyball team and Open Girls Netball team contested the regional finals last week.
Despite facing injuries early in the day, our dedicated netballers persevered and secured a spot in the Semi-Finals. This achievement was particularly impressive, given the challenging circumstances.

Notably, during the preliminary group stages of the series, the girls achieved a victory against Centenary Heights State High School, who eventually emerged as the winners. This triumph in the earlier match is expected to boost the girls’ confidence as they prepare for the upcoming challenges in 2024.

Congratulations to the team for their remarkable performance and determination!

In 2023, our Volleyball players encountered injury challenges within the team. Despite this, their determination remained unwavering.
In a valiant effort, the team competed against Woodridge State High School, demonstrating remarkable sportsmanship even in defeat. This experience will undoubtedly contribute to their growth and resilience moving forward.
