PATHWAYS – Out and About
January 17/01/2025
Marg Smith, Pathways Advisor, recently visited the Australian Performing Arts Conservatory (APAC), a creative hub nurturing talent since 1993. It was lovely to catch up with Sean Johnson – Head of Student Recruitment & Kristina Chapman – Head of Screen Production. Kristina taught Years 10-12 Film, TV & New Media at Redlands College 2017- 2019. APAC has course offerings in a Bachelor of Screen & Stage with a focus on either (Acting), (Screen Production), or (Song & Dance). Based on demand and industry opportunities, they are re-purposing the Bachelor of Screen & Stage (Song and Dance) degree to a Musical Theatre approach and that submission is before the regulator with an anticipated launch in mid-2025, subject to TEQSA approval. The facilities include a dedicated Dance, Film and Editing, and Stage Combat Rooms, providing students with immersive, hands-on training. With small class sizes (8-12 students), FEE-HELP support, 20% scholarships, and a trimester schedule to graduate in two years, APAC has built strong industry connections. Students benefit from mentorships, capstone projects, and community networks, preparing them for vibrant careers in the arts. An inspiring visit to a place shaping future creatives!
