Christmas LibGuide – The Gift of Reading

Christmas LibGuide – The Gift of Reading

It’s that time of year, isn’t it? That time when “wish lists” are written, and so many people wonder where they will find the money to meet all the costs of gifts, food, party clothes, Christmas pyjamas – you know, all the essentials. Stop! Breath! Reflect! Christmas is the time to wonder at the amazing, completely free and unearned gift of life in all its fullness through Christ. As you pause and recalibrate, the Library is offering you another free – but priceless – gift: the gift of losing yourself in a great story, of soaking up new knowledge, of taking time to delve deeper into God’s Word. Come in, browse, borrow.

You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be–
I had a [loving adult] who read to me.
From The Reading Mother by Strickland Gillilan
