As We End the Year
Loving Father,
as we come to the end of another year and step into this Christmas season,
give us calm hearts and clear minds.
Like Mary, help us trust you even when we do not see the full picture.
Like Joseph, help us act with courage, patience, and quiet faith.
Teach us to welcome and love the children in our lives with the same care shown to the Christ Child.
As we read again the old stories of a star, a stable, and a manger,
may we know the joy the angels sang,
may we hold the wonder the shepherds felt,
and may we bring our gifts, whatever they may be, with grateful hearts.
When we gather with family, friends, and those we hold dear,
keep us mindful of one another.
Help us celebrate without pride,
endure disappointment without bitterness,
and offer grace where relationships are strained.
We remember those for whom this season is marked by grief, distance, or disappointment.
For families missing loved ones, bring comfort.
For those far from home, bring peace.
For places in our world weighed down by conflict, bring the hope of reconciliation.
We pray for the sick, the lonely, the hungry, and the forgotten.
May the story of your coming remind them they are not alone.
And may that same story stir us to share, to serve, and to care.
As Christmas Day arrives,
grant us joy in waking,
gratitude in resting,
and peace to carry through the days ahead.
We pray in the name of Jesus, our Emmanuel, God with us.
Amen.
May the peace and hope of the Christ be with you in the days ahead.
